scantools-1.2.tar.gz (18091 bytes)

A set of programs to deal with log files containing iptables/ipchains DROP/DENY messages. In particular, this package is useful for detecting port scans and complaining about them.

scantools is not a dynamic firewall program. It just lets you know that certain kinds of events have occurred and helps you to send e-mail messages about them.

Also, scantools has nothing to do with scanning images into graphics files!

zombie-1.0.tar.gz (9834 bytes)

A set of programs to help people to learn about Unix/Linux concepts. The package is called "zombie" because this is the name of the first (and currently only) program in the collection.

A zombie process is one that has exited but its parent has not yet cleaned up its remains. By default this program creates a zombie process. It will also let you do a little bit of signal and exit status manipulation.

You can also browse (or wget) the src directory, which contains all of these things.
